Day 1: The Golden Age & the Canals

Morning: Rijksmuseum

Start at the Rijksmuseum, opening at 09:00. Arrive right at opening to beat the crowds. Allow 2–3 hours to explore the Gallery of Honour and the Night Watch.

Afternoon: Van Gogh Museum

The Van Gogh Museum is a 5-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum. Allow 2 hours moving through the chronological collection. Book afternoon tickets online to avoid the queue.

Evening: Canal Cruise

End your first day with an evening canal cruise. Sunset cruises departing around 20:00 in summer offer the most beautiful light on the gabled canal houses.

🏠 Where to Stay: Book a hotel in the Jordaan or Leidseplein area for easy access to all Day 1 sights. Compare options on Booking.com.

Day 2: History, Beer & Views

Morning: Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House requires a timed entry ticket booked weeks in advance. Morning slots are less crowded. Allow 90 minutes.

Afternoon: Heineken Experience

Tram 24 takes you south to the Heineken Experience in De Pijp. The 90-minute tour includes two drinks and ends at the rooftop Star Bar.

Evening: A’DAM Lookout

Take the free ferry from Centraal to the A’DAM Lookout Tower. The 22nd-floor deck is spectacular at dusk. Book the swing in advance if you’re feeling brave.

Day 3: Day Trip & Local Life

Morning: Keukenhof (seasonal) or Vondelpark

If visiting March–May, take a day trip to Keukenhof Gardens. Allow 3–4 hours among 7 million tulips. Outside tulip season, spend a slow morning in Vondelpark.

Afternoon: Jordaan Walk

Spend your final afternoon wandering the Jordaan neighbourhood — Amsterdam’s most charming district with independent boutiques, brown cafés, and hidden courtyards.
