Moco Museum

Banksy originals, Salvador Dalí, and boundary-pushing contemporary art — Amsterdam's most talked-about museum, steps from the Rijksmuseum.

About Moco Museum

Opened in 2016 in a beautiful early-20th-century villa on Museumplein, Moco (Modern and Contemporary) Museum has quickly become one of Amsterdam's most visited attractions. Its permanent collection centres on the world's largest public display of Banksy originals, while rotating exhibitions bring in major names from contemporary and pop art.

The museum's intimate villa setting — just a few rooms per floor — creates an unusually immersive experience. Works by Salvador Dalí, Jeff Koons, Tom Wesselmann, and René Magritte appear alongside large-scale digital and immersive installations.

Highlights

  • Banksy collection — "Girl with Balloon", "Kissing Coppers", "Napalm", and over 80 authenticated works
  • Salvador Dalí — sculptures, prints, and paintings from the surrealist master
  • Immersive rooms — floor-to-ceiling digital art environments change with each season
  • The villa itself — a 1904 Amsterdam School building worth exploring
  • Pop art & street art — rotating guest exhibitions keep the collection fresh

Moco is on Museumplein, a 2-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh Museum. Trams 2 and 5 stop at Museumplein. The museum is inside the Villa Alsberg at Honthorststraat 20.
